Yes, it really is easy. Each refill is designed to become a candle with very little effort. There are no special tools, no complicated setup — just a few quiet minutes and a candle made by you.
How it works:
Open the candle bag and remove the wick, wick holder, and instruction card. Place the bag of wax on a microwave-safe dish and heat for 2 minutes, or until fully melted.While the wax melts, center the wick in your vessel. Pour in the melted wax, adjust the wick so it’s centered, and let the candle set for at least 2 hours. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch, light, and enjoy.
When you’re done, compost the empty bag at home or through industrial composting.

Once your candle has burned down to ¼ inch of wax, it’s time for a refill. We recommend the hot water method: bring water to a simmer in a saucepan, remove it from the heat, and carefully pour it into your vessel. Let it cool completely—the wax will rise to the surface and harden.
Lift out the wax and remove the metal wick holder, compost the wax and recycle the metal wick base. Keep wax out of the drain. Wash your vessel with soap and water, or pop it in the dishwasher, then dry thoroughly before refilling.
