A candle is one of those small things. But when it’s made better, it can mean a lot.

Our wax is a clean blend of non-GMO soy from U.S. farms and sustainably sourced coconut. No paraffin. No fillers. Just ingredients that burn beautifully and leave nothing harmful behind.

We work with two of the world’s most respected fragrance houses — creative partners who share our standards for safety, ethics, and artistry. They compete to create the best possible version of every scent, using only clean ingredients. Each blend holds at least 10% fragrance oil (most candles use 6% or less), so what you smell is rich, nuanced, and true from the first burn to the last.

Every candle is hand-poured in a family-run factory here in the U.S. Keeping production close to home means fewer miles traveled, fewer emissions, and better working relationships with the people who make our products.

Our refill bags are 100% compostable. They’re designed to disappear, while your candle lives on in the vessel you already love. Every shipment we send is packaged in recyclable materials — never plastic, never excess.

And since our founding year in 2019, we’ve offset our carbon emissions in full.

We know $29 for wax in a bag might sound surprising. But when you understand what goes into it — the materials, the craftsmanship, the care — it starts to make sense.

Our ingredients & impact

Fragrances

Every scent starts with care — not just for how it smells, but how it’s made.

All of our fragrances are crafted in partnership with world-class perfumers and meet the standards set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) — the global body that defines safety for the fragrance industry.

We blend ethically sourced essential oils with clean, high-quality aroma molecules — chosen for their sustainability, consistency, and scent performance. The result is fragrance that feels as good as it smells: free from harmful additives, heavy synthetics, and unnecessary waste.

What’s inside (and what’s not)

Our formulas are:

  • IFRA-certified for Category 12 (candles and non-skin products)
  • Phthalate-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free
  • Made without any IFRA-prohibited or restricted materials
  • Designed to be clean, balanced, and long-lasting

And we never use:

  • Phthalates (DEP, DBP, DMP)
  • Parabens
  • Sulfates
  • Nitro or polycyclic musks (like musk ketone, tonalide, galaxolide)
  • Formaldehyde donors
  • Toluene or methylene chloride
  • Atranol / chloroatranol
  • Methyl eugenol
  • Any material classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic (CMR)

We believe you shouldn’t have to choose between beautiful scent and a lighter impact.

Wax

We use a plant-based wax made from coconut and soybean oil — 100% natural and completely free from paraffin (a petroleum byproduct) or additives.

Our soy is non-GMO and grown in the U.S., while our coconut wax is responsibly sourced from the Philippines and Indonesia, then refined and finished in the U.S. for a clean, consistent burn.

Our supplier is a proud member of the Sustainable Coconut Partnership, supporting better farming practices and fairer supply chains.

Packaging

We keep things simple — and circular.

Our candle bags are 100% compostable and 99% plant-based, designed to protect your candle refill without leaving a trace behind. Once empty, they can be composted at home or through industrial facilities, breaking down into natural elements that return to the earth.

Our packaging partner offsets the production impact of every bag produced by removing ocean plastic, helping ensure that what we make not only doesn’t add to the problem — it actually helps clean it up.

We ship using plastic-free, recyclable materials, so every part of your order — from bag to box — reflects our belief that less waste really can feel more beautiful.

Impact

We work with Bluebird Climate to measure our impact. Their valuation found that our refillable Clean Candles produce 86% less waste and 50% fewer carbon emissions than traditional candles. Learn more about their process →
